FAQ

What should I do first in Roll a Fisherman?
Redeem all seven codes (they give 5,000 Cash and 800 Gold), then roll fishermen at the central stand and place every one of them on the dock. Idle slots earn nothing, and the tutorial grants three free rolls to get you started.
How long does the early game take?
Most of the first session is a 30-second loop: collect fish, run them to the stand, collect Cash piles, roll again. With codes redeemed and the dock full, the first 100,000-Cash rebirth is reachable in a first sitting.
Do I need Robux to progress?
No. Every system, including rebirth and mutations, is reachable with Cash and Gold earned in game. Robux purchases exist — for example Sea Commander has a 320 Robux option — but they are shortcuts, not gates.

The core loop in one minute

Roll a Fisherman is a dock tycoon with a loop the tutorial forces in order: roll fishermen → place them on the dock → collect their fish → display or sell them → reinvest the Cash. Every fisherman you place becomes permanent income, and displayed fish keep earning even while you are offline — the official description promises “your fish earns even while you are offline.”

The loop never changes — only the numbers do. Understanding why each step matters keeps you from wasting hours: fishermen only produce when placed, fish only earn when collected and displayed, and Cash only compounds when you reinvest instead of hoarding.

Step 0: redeem the codes before anything else

Redeem all seven active codes — RELEASE, UPDATE1, UPDATE2, GOLD, UPGRADES, FISHING, SEALS — before your first roll. They give 5,000 Cash and 800 Gold plus spins, which is the single biggest boost available to a new account. The full list with rewards sits on our codes page, and the exact taps are in the redeem guide.

Your first rolls

The tutorial starts you with three free rolls at the central stand, and early rolls are deliberately cheap. Every roll returns a fisherman with a rarity, a bucket capacity (the starting Homeless Fisher holds just 2 fish), and a luck multiplier. Place every fisherman you get — a weak fisherman on the dock beats an empty slot, and a full dock is the whole early game.

Use Equip Best once you have a handful: the button auto-fills your dock slots with your strongest fishermen. Note that it needs to be applied for fishermen and fish separately — the dock guide shows where both buttons live.

The 30-second loop, and when it ends

Early on, your fishermen’s buckets fill every half minute or so. Walk the dock, collect the fish behind each fisherman, run them to the stand or sell point, and grab the Cash piles around your base. Community guides suggest the 30-second delivery rhythm as a reference, not a rule — the moment automation arrives (see the upgrades guide), the manual loop ends.

Where the first million goes

Cash has three sinks, in the order the community recommends:

  1. More and better fishermen. Roll often while rolls are cheap; replace your weakest placed fisherman whenever a better roll arrives. Fishermen do not upgrade in place — replacement is the only growth path (see the fishermen list for every price point).
  2. Income upgrades. Earning-efficiency upgrades that raise the basic fish cycle payout come before speed.
  3. Your first rebirth at 100,000 Cash. It permanently grants a 1.5x money multiplier and extra dock capacity — the rebirth guide explains why you should overshoot the threshold before pulling the trigger.

What NOT to spend early Cash on

The community’s most-repeated warnings for new players:

  • Don’t dump everything into rolls while the dock and income upgrades are still the bottleneck — a pile of unplaced fishermen earns zero.
  • Don’t buy speed before capacity. Faster fishing with full buckets and a full dock changes nothing.
  • Don’t hoard. Cash sitting in your balance earns nothing; the loop only compounds when you reinvest, and the common mistakes list has the full anti-pattern catalog.

Before you log off

Offline earnings are the game’s headline feature, so log off correctly: fill every dock slot (Equip Best), confirm production is running, clear your inventory and storage so the next session starts clean, and keep rare fish out of your bulk-sell pile. The full checklist lives in the offline earnings guide. Then let the fish work overnight — that is the whole point of the game.
