FAQ

Who is the best fisherman in Roll a Fisherman?
By observed price ceiling, Sea Commander at 750,000,000 Cash is the strongest, with Soldier Steve (300M) before it. Both are late-game Cash walls. Early on, the luck fishermen — Angler Mia (2x), Alaskan Fisher (2.5x) — punch far above their price.
Can I upgrade a fisherman in place?
No. Fishermen have no upgrade path — a fisherman is what they are. Growth means rolling better ones and swapping them onto dock slots with the pickup hammer and Equip Best.
What does luck do on a fisherman?
Luck raises the quality of what a fisherman catches. Angler Mia carries 2x luck, Alaskan Fisher 2.5x, and Clown Timmy 5x by community reports — they catch better fish more often, which raises income without touching speed.

The fishermen catalog

Fourteen fishermen have been observed so far. Everything below is community-observed data, cross-checked across two independent wikis as of September 28, 2026 — the in-game price always wins if it differs, and empty rarity cells mean “not observed”, not “not existing”.

How to read the table

  • Rarity labels are only recorded where seen in-game — Common and Legendary are confirmed; the dashes are unrecorded, not absent. Fan S/A/B/C tier lists you may see elsewhere are groupings by usefulness, not game labels.
  • Prices scale brutally: 45k for Angler Mia, 1.5M for Pirate Pete, then millions to hundreds of millions for the top end. Each step is a “Cash wall” — the game pacing you through rebirths. The rebirth guide plans those resets.
  • Luck fishermen are the efficiency picks. Angler Mia at 45k is the first big income multiplier for most players; Alaskan Fisher (2.5x) and Clown Timmy (5x, if the report holds) multiply the quality of everything on the dock. The roll system guide explains where luck comes from.

The three passives that change strategy

Most fishermen are stat sticks, but three have passives with knock-on effects:

  • Coral Zoey halves mutation costs (100 → 50 Gold). If you plan a heavy mutation run, her one-time price can pay for itself across the run — see the mutations guide.
  • Koi Fisher doubles Plasma appearance during Mutation Surge windows — a specialist pick for mutation farming.
  • Lobster works as a placed trap, producing differently from rod fishermen.

How to grow the roster

Fishermen do not upgrade in place. Growth is a replacement loop: roll → compare against your weakest placed fisherman → swap with the pickup hammer (or Equip Best) → sell the loser. The roll mechanics, costs, and luck sources are in the how-to-roll guide, and the common mistakes list covers the anti-pattern of hoarding unplaced fishermen.

What we have not observed

Full rarity labels for every unit, per-unit fishing speeds, and bucket capacities beyond the Homeless Fisher’s 2-fish bucket are unrecorded. This table updates after major patches — the 2026-09-22 rebalance already moved several prices once.
